Foundations of Circus Arts Therapy® is a 7-hour course which includes videos. It is based on the publication, Circus Arts Therapy® Fitness and Play Therapy Program Shows Positive Clinical Results which can be found in the International Journal of Play Therapy, April 2018 edition here: http://dx.doi.org/10.1037/pla0000068.
During this course, you will be introduced to Carrie Heller's Circus Arts Therapy® Clinical and Adaptive Methodology. Therapists will become acquainted with individual, partner and group juggling to add to their therapeutic toolboxes. Additional ground-based circus arts apparatus will be introduced; short video clips will also be shown.
Circus Arts Therapy® has benefited many neurodiverse as well as neurotypical clients and their families. Circus Arts Therapy® has helped clients increase their body awareness, physicality, emotional resilience, regulation and teamwork. Circus Arts Therapy® has also benefited clients who need extra support in areas of social thinking, motor control, self-esteem, body image, managing frustration as well as clients with learning differences and sensory processing differences.
Equipment needed for this workshop include 5 juggling scarves (2 matching color pairs plus a 5th scarf of a different color) and 2 or 3 juggling balls. Links to purchase these can be found here.
